Style Icon / Take Ivy
Well, Take Ivy isn't a style icon in the strictest sense; it's a book, not a person. But the candid photos that comprise the book capture a specific period in the history of American menswear, illustrating the iconic style of ivy league culture in the mid 1960's. Published in Japan in 1965, the book is not merely documentation of outfits, but a curation of ideas that invites a contemplation of the ethos of this influential, yet esoteric, society. For better or worse, the style of the ivy league remains influential on an international level. Below are a few of my favorite photos from the book:
